Basketball Jones
Bobby Jones played on the University of Washington basketball team with Nate Robinson and Brandon Roy. Once in the NBA, Jones proved himself capable when he scored 20 points on fellow young gun Kevin Durant, but he bounced around the league and eventually moved to Italy, where he's played professional basketball for the past eight years.
In 2015, he directed a documentary film about playing basketball in Europe, called "Basketball Jones: The Overseas Journey." He's currently working on a traveling video series with his daughter, as well as a memoir.
Photos shot by me. Art direction (and amazing basketball painting) by Ken Shafer. Assist by Olli Tumelius. Retouching by Jordan Hartley (except the basketball-playing ones).
Professors with projectors
What's more teacher-y than a slide projector? For this year's winners of the Distinguished Teaching Award, the highest honor a University of Washington professor can receive, I concepted a projector photoshoot with Columns Magazine art director Ken Shafer. He designed some amazing slides that tapped into the subject matter of each teacher. We were assisted by Ken Yu.
The full article, which I also wrote, is here. It imagines a day in the life of a student who has all of these teachers in their class schedule at the same time (Ken Shafer's idea).
Special thanks to photographer Jeremy Cowart who answered my technical questions via email.
