Read MoreA couple shots of Chuck Klosterman
I photographed pop culture critic Chuck Klosterman in Seattle this summer. Klosterman is a frequent podcast guest who has authored 10 books about sports, music and media, and been a columnist for The New York Times Magazine, Esquire and ESPN. We had a nice Q&A that you can read here. The photos were retouched by David Neilands.
And here's the one that lead the story online:
Basketball Jones
Bobby Jones played on the University of Washington basketball team with Nate Robinson and Brandon Roy. Once in the NBA, Jones proved himself capable when he scored 20 points on fellow young gun Kevin Durant, but he bounced around the league and eventually moved to Italy, where he's played professional basketball for the past eight years.
In 2015, he directed a documentary film about playing basketball in Europe, called "Basketball Jones: The Overseas Journey." He's currently working on a traveling video series with his daughter, as well as a memoir.
Photos shot by me. Art direction (and amazing basketball painting) by Ken Shafer. Assist by Olli Tumelius. Retouching by Jordan Hartley (except the basketball-playing ones).
A week in Santa Fe with Peter Yang
I had the enormous privilege of studying under Peter Yang for a week in Santa Fe. It's hard to put into words how much I learned… so I'll do it in pictures.
One big takeaway for me: When you're an editorial photographer shooting on location, you have to be able to enter a situation and build a set out of anything. You have to do it quick, and it doesn't always have to make sense. You have to feel it and seize it. Like… when I grabbed a mop bucket from a closet and asked the model to sit in it.

I recommend that any photographer try out the Santa Fe Workshops.
